Internal Environment pinpoints in-house factors of the firm, which are often constitutional in nature. On the flip side, External environment is composed of those factors which are exterior to the firm. Business refers to the collective effort of the firm in making money by buying and selling merchandise. We all are aware of the fact that every business operates in an environment called Business Environment. The business environment comprises all the elements that have a bearing on the decisions, moves and functions of the business. The environmental factors, not just affect the business, because of the changes and activities, but these factors can also be affected by the business activities. Based on the extent of control, the environmental factors are divided into two groups or say types — Internal Environment and External Environment.

What Are Internal & External Environmental Factors That Affect Business

Every organization has its own culture. Almost everything that affects an organization's ability to compete and respond successfully to changes in the external environment — ultimately, the organization's success or failure — is an aspect of that culture. The internal factors determine how the organization moves forward, both as a self-contained organizational entity and in response to its external environment. Why does an organization exist? What is its purpose? Answering these fundamental questions describes an organization's mission.

The external environment consists of the factors outside the company that influence the company's ability to function. Some sections of the external elements are manipulated and managed by company marketing, but the others need the organization to make adjustments. It is important to monitor the core components of a company's external environment, and keep a close watch at all times. If the company cannot judge its external environment, it may fail to meet the market demands. The customers can be attempted to influence, through marketing and strategic release of corporate information.

However, in this article, I will go into much detail about the internal environment factors. The conditions and forces that exist within the organization are called the internal environment factors of an organization.

Navigating through the modern chaotic work environments is like trying to drive a small boat to shore during a hurricane. Just like this small boat, the modern organizations and their managers are faced with a significant amount of factors that require immediate response. The forces that drive this change in the business are known as internal and external environmental factors. The internal environment of an organization refers to events, factors, people, systems, structures and conditions inside an organization that are generally under the direct control of the company. As such, it is the internal environment that will influence the organizational activities, decisions, behaviors and attitudes of employees.

If a business wants to be successful in the marketplace , it is necessary for them to fully understand what factors exert impact on the development of their company. Once they know about both positive and negative effects within and outside the company, they can produce suitable strategies to handle any predicted situation. Therefore, examining internal and external factors is considered the most important task for an enterprise before launch any strategic marketing plan. To get a proper understanding of the business environment, we should step by step analyze individual elements of this term.
