Background: Diagnosis OA is basically based upon clinical and radiological features. Methods: There were total 66 patients with knees. X ray of bilateral knee was taken in weight bearing position standing and WOMAC score was calculated. X-rays were assessed with KL grading. Felson DT, Zhang Y.
Materials and Methods: Patients with primary knee osteoarthritis Kellgren and Lawrence grades 3 or 4 were assessed separately by either one of two arthroplasty surgeons for indications to undergo TKA and evaluated using the WOMAC score. Patients who had received any form of intra-articular knee injection within six months before assessment were excluded. Patients were divided into two groups; indicated for TKA, and for non-surgical treatment. The accuracy at different cut-off points in the score indicated for TKA was determined using the receiver operating characteristic ROC curve plotted on sensitivity and 1-specificity graph. Results: The study included 74 patients with a mean age of At the cut-off point of 30, the specificity and sensitivity of the score indicated for TKA was The positive predictive value was

Show all documents An important, but frequently overlooked, aspect of validating health outcome measures is to establish if items exhibit differential item functioning DIF. That is, if respondents have the same underlying level of an attribute, does the item give the same score in different subgroups or is it biased towards one subgroup or another.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between muscle strength and knee symptoms pain, stiffness, and functional limitation regardless of the presence of radiologic knee osteoarthritis RKOA in community-dwelling elderly. Patients and methods: This cross-sectional study used data from the Namgaram-2 cohort. The Namgaram-2 cohort consisted of participants living in three rural communities. Such participants were included for studies on activity limitation due to age-related musculoskeletal disorders including knee osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and sarcopenia. Muscle strengths were measured by knee strength by using the isokinetic dynamometer and hand grip strength. Conclusion: Muscle strength as measured by grip strength and knee extension was statistically significantly correlated with the WOMAC scores in patients with knee symptoms regardless of whether radiologic signs of knee osteoarthritis were observed. As aging continues, the most significant health behavior change in the elderly is physical impairment [ 1 ].
